HAPPY 2009!

I am headed upstairs for the night to ring in the new year with my whole family! My mom is actually gonna watch the ball this year;-) So, I will be posting again....next year! I havent missed a day yet....and am not planning to until the march for life, when I will be gone all day the 22nd!

Later I am going to post a year-in-review. Also, I read yesterday online that tonight there is a Leap Second, where all atomic time stops for one second to keep up with the earth turning, they do this every few years, anyway, it can make cell phones, computers, etc crash. I dont know exactly how to avoid it, but I am thinking maybe by turning off your computer and or cell phone a few minutes before 12 and turning them back on "next year" you will be OK!!!

My youth leader called me today and told me my mom could go to DC for almost free(spending money only) and then she called him and she is going! She is verrry excited, and plus she wont be so worried sick when I am gone! And hey, of any of you friends reading this if this makes your parents feel better maybe you can use it so you can come;-)!!!!XOXO

We had so much fun this weekend!!! On Saturday when she came, we looked at the scrapbooks of things we had done since we last saw Jamie in May, then we went to church (the basketball team was there....she was very confused at this "parade of boys" and it is now forever an inside joke!!!) and then to Qdoba and then shopping, then on Sunday we went to the family party and more shopping, then today we hung out and played some games!!!!! We hope to see her again on her med schools spring break!!!

Tinker Bell!

It is SUCH a cute movie!!! Everyone today at the party LOVED my hair and told me how pretty I am getting and all sorts of wonderful things. If not for seeing my family I rarely see that would be why I love family parties so much;-)!!!

What a Trip

So we are one half hour away from destination. My dad, brother, and sister need a bathroom break. We stop at Taco Bell. My dad goes to start the car back up....no starty. At all. For one whole hour. Yep. So we get to their house, had a wonderful time, delicious dinner, and adorable desserts(little cakes decorated by my aunt!). We get presents.....(list adding right here...)

K so thats that. We visited, I got to see my 2 cousins(both boys), the littlest one is 2 and sooooo intelligent. I was palying air hockey with my sister and he took the score-slider numbers and used them like an abacus, going 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10!!! He counted all the way to ten! Just 2 in September too! And his mom has a pandora bracelet, and she has 3 birthstone rings on it for her kids(baby due in january, very soon!) and he told her all 3 colors!(green, blue, red) He is sooo smart, and sooo cute!!! He tells us all the time he loves us, and before he left he said "please dont go. no leave." It was sooo sweet. I have little holes in the jeans i wore, and he put his finger in one of the holes and said "is that you leg in there?" It was adorable! And the whole time I tried to get my aunt and uncle to spill the gender of their baby(they know but nooone else!) I tried asking what the middle name was, and my aunt said, "Grace. Or Anthony." Those are their middle names. No luck there;-( They didnt want to know but they saw something on the ultrasound, which may lead one to think oh its a boy, but it was a fancy 4D one, so that can also be clear if it is indeed a girl. I want a girl as a tiebreaker, I hope so!!! They do have a name....they even have paint(locked in their closet LOL) which my aunt told me 2 colors...beige and ivory. and blue or pink!!! I cant wait for the newest little blessing!!!! If it is a girl and I get married before say I am 23 or 24, she would probably be my flower girl, cuz she would be anywhere from say 6-8ish then. Haha that would be fun;-) So we left for the one and a half hour ride home, and about 45 minutes from home....brrrbumpbrrbump.....tire trouble. Pull over and everything looks fine, so we waited til my Granparents were caught up and headed onward. Now we are home. Quite a day, but so happy to see my cousins!!!

Dont wanna leave Ohio, but want to go and stay away in the dorms. But not be too far from home!!! I really would like a Catholic college. Especially FUS. I would REALLY like scholarships! Hopefully I will get offered some after taking the ACT hopefully in February of not then the next one!!! Not sending in scores right away this time tho....I would like a 30, then if I get one I will send them in.

Major in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education(leaning towards former) not sure if I really want to minor. If I do it will either be Drama or Journalism. Or maybe an elective class or 2 in each, since most schools require a few elective classes here and there. Minors are more money. Money I need in the first place;-)!!!

It is a scary thought, college. In 2 and a half years I will be a graduate. In 3 years at this time I will probably be typing from a laptop in a dorm room from a college somewhere across the state. Or studying;-)

Its gonna be hard, I know. I have already cried at the thought of my few senior friends leaving. Man;-) And that wasnt even at the life night in May when they are saying goodbye....I will cry then even tho I still get to do YES and Steubie with them all LOL!!!


Merry Christmas Eve, will log on tomorrow hopefully once or twice and post my Christmas love!!! And Staurday or possible late Friday will being a loevely list of Gifts I got!!! (we still have Christmas things with uncle and aunt and cousins a few hours away on Friday, they cant travel because my aunts baby is due in 2 weeks!!!)

it was indeed drastic...

The hair I mean. It is so short. I like it, it makes me look older, and it was for a good cause. But it is still....soooo...short! It hasnt been this short in about 6 or 7 years....the first time I donated to Locks of Love. Second time I dunno why but it wasnt as short.....it had grown better then though. Now it gets to one length and like quits and starts dying!!! But yeah obviosuly it was very drastic....I look in the mirror and am like wow.....My dad and brother dont like it though;-(

SHOPPING!

Oh how it was fun!!! We went to Traget and me and 3 friends shopped (we split into groups) for a 5 year old girl! We wrapped at my place and she got 15 packages all together! We chose 1 family instead of more than one, so that we could get them everything they wanted instead of only a box or two, so their tree was filled;-) I can only imagine their faces on Christmas morning!!! Especially this little girl...we got her 2 outfits(hannah monatana!), camp rock pj's, a hannah montana guitar, little lip glosses nail polish hair stuff etc, hannah montana shoes, 3 collector dolls, and a barbie!!! all for 120 dollars!!! we so good!!! And we had so much fun, me and my friends, hanging at my place!!!

What to do...

I am not tired but my mom for some reason wants me to come upstairs and go to bed. She said I can stay down here, however, but only if I do not watch what my dad is watching on TV;-) So I am on the computer!!! Dont know for how much longer as I have already

checked to see if prof had posted grade(she didnt)
So yeah. Tomorrow looks like nothing to do so far....so I will probably sleep til around 9....brother and sister dont usually let me sleep later than that! Get up, have coffee and probably a toaster strudel. Check email, blog, etc. Read the Sunday paper, hope SMCC beat HHS tonight!!! Check email, blog, etc. Look at the presents under my tree I cannot wait to put out on Christmas Eve. Think about Lifeteen shopping on Monday. Check email, blog ,etc. Hope friends are actually on emailing me or updating blog. Wish I had AIM, but realize I do not even have any of my friends IDs even if I did have AIM, whhich means I dont really need it;-) Find shoes to match Christmas Eve outfit(red blouse and ....gasp! a black chiffon SKIRT!!! yep, me! a skirt!) Eat lunch. Realize it is one month til the Right to Life March. Call Bella and talk about what to bring. Realize must pack light. Freak. Wonder if I will have somewhere to brush my teeth. Freak some more. Think about what to buy family and self in DC. Count money in Spain jar. Consider starting gifts for people from Spain list. Check email, blog, etc. Make list of things to get people in Spain, mentally. Consider buying self a frilly flamenco colorful skirt. Decide Yes I would prbably actually wear it. Count money saved for Staeubenville and DC so far. Call Rachel to see what her plans are for Christmas. Check email, blog, etc. Eat diinner. Watch random Christmas movie. Read Christmas story. Do Advent calendar, candles, etc.

Today at Mass, Father Phil was supposed to be assisted by a deacon today. However, he did not show up! So when it came time for the homily, Fr Phil told us. "It is everyone elses lucky day! First off, I went deer hunting today. And the deer won. Second, I was supposed to be assisted by a deacon today who was giving the homily, and I do not see a deacon, do you? So, Merry Christmas, let us all rise and prfess our faith!" That was the "homily!" It was so funny, everyone was laughing!!!

Addicted to COFFEE!

My new friend! My mom bought me and my dad a bag of coffee*caramel truffle* at the store the other day! It is so good! However, I do wish we had vanilla ice cream in this house because my BFF bella and I used to make these awesome mocha-type shakes for our moms at her house with coffee and vanilla ice cream! soooo yummy! I really want one RIGHT NOW!

Jamie cant come tomorrow;-( but hopefully after Christmas. The roads are too bad and icy and apparently we have MORE of this lovely ice headed our way! ugh!!! Tomorrow I lector at church, speaking of that, before I go to bed should probably look over the readings in my workbook. AND my family light the advent candles!(me pllus candles....never the best idea!!!)

wrestling

My dad took me and my brother to a match today! SHS vs PHS. My dad works with someone whos son is on the SHS team. I had never been to a wrestling match before, even though my cousin TJ was a really awesome wrestler for SMCC hwen he was in school I never went. Basically I think the purpose these guys have is to like kill each other! It is funny though;-) I am an SMCC fan so therefore dont like PHS because they are a huge rival so I cheered for SHS. My dad went to PHS, my mom to SMCC, and before I was homeschooled I went to SMCC.....its in my blood, as is wrestling, my dad was a wrestler for PHS and my mom an SMCC mat maid!!! My dad told me to tell my mom when I went home I wanted to go to PHS to be a mat maid.....I tolds him...."dad! thats not even funny!" because of my loyalty to SMCC!!!

Jakes bad traits(some of these arent bad just temporary disadvantages):
he is 3 years 5 months and 3 days older than me, currently 18
He goes to college this coming fall 2 hours away(ok not bad)
He has a girlfriend
He has a slight temeper, but only after losing football games, and never really bad for that matter and it doesnt last long
He is easily confused, but thats not a bad trait.....its really cute actually;-)

Maximum Growth

This is very random and all but really the analogy that just came to me is very good!
So I applyed Maximum Growth polish to my nails just now. To make them grow, and make them stronger. Now think about that for a minute....


What if we could do that with our faith? Apply some magical Maximum Growth thing? We can! Through grace from God in Sacraments like Holy Communion and Reconciliation!


That analogy turned out pretty good....all thanks to nail polish;-)

Happy Holidays???

Why cant people say Merry Christmas? In stores, on TV? 80 percent of Americans believe in God. 80 percent. And I have never met one Jewish, Islam, or Jehovahs Witness offended by Merry Christmas. Seriously. What was our country founded on again? hmmmm...

G'day, mates

Almost g'nite, but whatever. Today I didnt go anywhere. Didnt even put in my contacts! Or do makeup! But I did do school, watch a history video, watch TV, work on a history report, and talk to Bella. I am super sad there is no lifeteen until the 11th of January. But of course, we have shopping on Monday. That will be fun. Even though Jake and his sister Carliann cannot come probably. Jake came last year.....it was really funny. He didnt cut paper the right size and patched the gift part showing with a different color of paper. It was really cute, actually. But we are wrapping at my place this year after shopping at Target, eating pizza, and praying!!!! Yay! Fun! Then next month is the Right 2 Life March!!!!! SUPER YAY! I get to go this year! It will be great to stand up for something I really and truly support!!! With my friends! By bus! To DC! Even though we will only be in DC for about 8-9 hours, it will still be a great experience. We are going to the Holocaust Museum when we are there too. Oh and I am planning on typing a year in review for December 31st, so you all have that to look forward to while reading my mostly boring blog posts!!!XOXO

post 150!!!

so I have had this lovely blog for like what now? 2 months? 150 posts? Thats like an average of like what 2.5 a day??? Whoa!!! Thanks God for inspiring so many of these posts, and thanks friends for inspiring so many others!!! LUVLUVLUV!!!

college, the not so distant reality

its true. I am a sophomore. Two years at this time I will be half done with my senior year. My friends who are seniors have already gotton into schools for the most part, most of them their first choice colleges. Most of them in Ohio, however, which makes me happy. Kind of. At the end of May we are having this thing at lifeteen, we are going to say goodbye to all the seniors. I know I will cry, because as I am typing this I am almost crying. Sheesh I am a softie;-) When I leave in a few years....amn it will be hard. I'll get my own year of lasts, like my senior friends have been through already, some of the lasts anyways. My best friend is a freshman so she will be a senior in high school the year I leave for college.....and it will kill me to leave her. Many of my other friends are all graduating in 2011 like me, but we are mostly headed across the state to different schools, some people even planning to go out of state. We are all going to world youth day in Spain the summer before....and it will be the last time we are all together before college. Some friends of mine are thinking about the same school I am, FUS, others med school, others Ohio Northern, others Mount Vernon, others undecided. Its gonna be hard. But its life. And on the really bright optimistic side, most of them are planning to come back here after college to get a job get married and have a family;-)

confession and lifeteen and the like

ok so lifeteen was so fun, it will be easier just to use the summary i wrote for the lifeteen website...
This weeks life night was all about the Sacrament of Reconciliation. First, we split into 3 groups and played a game with a hula-hoop where the hula-hoop had to go around the circle without the circle being broken! After that, each group had to alphabetize themselves by middle names. After we played that game, core team member Chad gave a talk relating sin to vampires. Now, that may sound strange, but really it was a good analogy. Basically, sin is like vampires, and going to Reconciliation gets rid of them! If we keep the vampires in the dark, they will stay alive. But what happens to vampires in the light? (For Twilight readers, the correct answer is not sparkle!) They correct answer is they explode. So by "putting our sins in the light" through Reconciliation, our sins will be gone and we are forgiven! After this, we went into church and heard a short talk given by Jacob about the Sacrament of Reconciliation and it's importance. We then reviewed the Examination of Conscience and after that we had an opportunity to receive the Sacrament. After Reconciliation, we all went back to the gym to enjoy a lovely dinner prepared by some wonderful volunteerrs! We even got a visit from Santa, telling us we were good boys and girls because he saw we went to Lifeteen!

OK so that was lifeteen.

So we had Confession, and like I said Jacob gave a talk, one thing he said I didnt put in the summary was actually something Jake said he took from what Deaacon Kishore had said before Reconciliation at school on Friday.(jake goes to St Marys) Basically, what he said was sin is like dort in a carpet, over time, a new carpet gets dirty. But, Reconciliation is like the vacuum cleaner, removing the dirt and making the carpet clean again! Great analogy!!!!!

Soooo

I am awake, waiting for Dad to bring home donuts! Mom and sister are upstairs sleeping, and brother is with Dad. I seriously Am getting addicted to the computer, I check my email about 6 times a day(it is always minimized, I just have to log in!) and my blog about 3 times. And I have to work on papers constantly, I am always on here applying for scholarships, the whole 9 yards!

Lifeteen today!!!;-) Last one of the year;-( But we have Christmas shopping next week, so that will be fun! We are having a home-made dinner!!!!!!!! YAY!!! We are learning about the Sacrament of Reconciliation and then we are having Confessions too. The rest of my family went yesterday but I wanted to go with my youth group. I havent been to Confession since Steubie in June and I like to go before Advent too!!! XOXO

3-ply

No, I am NOT talking about TP here! Bella has again, in her blog, has inspired this post!!! Last year in youth group, we were talking about an ideal relationship
Girl+Guy+GOD!=3-ply, like a rope, is stronger with 3 strands than 2!!!
So it kinda became a joke, so this one guy who goes to SHS, anyways he said, man, we better be careful! They'll think the 3-PLY is like a gang or something! And then ,my friends dad who was leading youth group that night was like, yeah your call sign could be the sign of the cross!!! haha it was really funny. But yes, every relationship, with out God in the center, can never last! Going to church or youth group with your girfriend or boyfriend is a great way to start!!!

The List

My friend Bella has inspired me by her blog post to post my List, things I want in my future husband. I have them in my head, but it would be nice to have them down somewhere!

MUST be Catholic!
Must go to Mass each week(and I mean not his parents making him go, I want a guy who will drive himself to church at a different time if he can't make it when hi family goes!!!)
Must be pro-life(and I mean right to life march going, pro-life t-shirt wearing, standing up and speaking out pro-life!!!)
Must go to youth group as often as he can make it with out being forced to
Must go to Confession at least once a year like a good Catholic(I go 2 times to 3 times, usually)
Must want lots of kids
Must actually like kids
Must be open to adopting(I would like to adopt an older boy from my city because older boys, about ages 7 and up, never seem to be wanted like babies and older girls!!! I would like to give a child who needs a good home a good home!)
Must have morals....duh!!!
Must not be prone to swearing!(and a guy who tells people to not swear when they do because there are kids around is always extra nice!)
Must respect his mother more than any person on the planet!
Must also, if he has a sister, stand up for her
Must never compromise any of his morals
Must respect my standards
Did I mention must want lots of kids?LOL!

Must be nice to my siblings
Cannot be allergic to dogs(seems silly, but I LOVE dogs! LOL!)

STORY

Evann, this took me one month! It is for my mom for Christmas!!!

“Follow That Star!”
With title, names and input by my blog readers!
It was the last day before Christmas Vacation at Saints Bernadette and Therese High School in Lakeville, Nebraska. Senior Cecelia Starr, 17 years old, captain of the cheerleading and girl’s basketball teams and a straight-A student, was walking towards the Principals office to do the afternoon announcements. Her long, curly, dark blonde hair cascaded around her shoulders. She was popular, pretty, and class President. She was planning to study elementary education at Franciscan University of Steubenville in Steubenville, Ohio, the next fall. Her boyfriend, 18-year-old senior Jacob Richie, captain of the football, basketball, and baseball teams, was running his hand through his brown hair (again) waiting for the bell to ring in Government class. Sure, he was going to Stanford University next fall to study law, but he was done with the test, and he wanted the bell to ring. Now. Everyone considered Cece and Jake the perfect couple. They had been voted Homecoming King and Queen, and everyone expected them to be Prom King and Queen as well. 16-year-old Liliana Jenkins, a junior and Cecelia's best friend, was twirling her dark brown hair in Math class. She thought she probably didn't do that well on the test, but as she figured she was going to have to go to community college anyway because of her grades. Plus, she had more important things to worry about. Like making sure she wore her hair differently each day of the week and all her jewelry somewhat coordinated with her navy, tan, and white uniform. Her friends all told her she could do better in school if she only tried, but she just wanted high school to be over. Junior Benjamin Cullins was just finishing his test in Theology class. Theology was his favorite class and he was getting all A's in school so far. He was planning on attending college and then seminary after graduating from high school in two years. He had wanted to be a priest for as long as he could remember. He didn't play very many sports, and had always been a small kid, so his best friend Jacob had looked out for him since he was in kindergarten, when Jacob had stood up for Ben on the playground.

"Hi, this is Cecelia Starr with the afternoon announcements," Cecelia's voice came over the PA system, "We only have one, make that two announcements today. First of all, don't forget the special Life Night tonight over at church, we will be wrapping presents for our Christmas families, going to Adoration, and eating pizza. Hope everyone can come! And also, have a fun and safe Christmas vacation, and Saints Bernadette and Therese will be back in session the first week in January." Brrrring! The day was over. School was out for the next two weeks. Cecelia, Jacob, Liliana, and Benjamin all met in front of school. They were planning on going to Lili's to hang out before Lifeteen that night. "How'd your Math test go, Lili?" Jacob asked her. "Good, well I think. Probably not. You know, it's whatever," Lili said, quickly trying to change the subject, "Like, I had so much fun shopping last week for our Christmas families. Did you see all those deals I got? We got those families like twice what we would have been able to afford!" "Yeah, you can really be a little ditzy sometimes; Lili, but you did get some awesome deals! Why can't you apply those shopping-math skills to school math?" Cecelia asked her. "Because school is school," Liliana said, "and shopping is shopping!" Her friends all rolled their eyes. They were sure Liliana just didn't know her full potential! After they arrived at Liliana's house, they changed their clothes (they had packed a change of clothes in their backpacks), and Liliana's mom asked if anyone wanted some fresh-baked Christmas cookies. Of course, they said yes.
Over cookies and hot chocolate they discussed last week’s Lifeteen shopping expedition some more. "I am just so happy we were able to do 10 families this year!" Benjamin said. "I know," Jacob said, "Last year we only did 6, and this year 10? It's amazing how many donations came in!" "Hey Lili," Cecelia asked her, "What did you have to bring for wrapping tonight?" "I think I am bringing a roll of paper," Liliana replied, "What about all of you?" "Tape!" said Jacob. "Scissors!" said Cecelia. "Sharpies!" said Benjamin. "Cool..." Liliana sighed, "So, Cece and Jake! Looks good for the basketball season, eh?" Jake spoke first, "We've only had 3 games, Lili, but the team is doing well! We even beat Lakeville High last week, and they are our biggest rival! And Cece, did I tell you how awesome you did in your game against St. Thomas? You guys, I mean, girls, heh heh, um yeah, Lady Cowbells, really rocked! But you did especially great." Jacob was thinking, "Oh shoot. She really hates when I call her a guy. Please just let her keep talking..." "Thanks, Jake," "Phew," he thought, as Cece continued, "Really, we only beat them by 9 points. You did great in your game, though! You shot 4 three-pointers!" "Oh, come on," Jake replied. "Quit being so modest about it, Jacob," Benjamin told him, "You really are a good basketball player. Why do you think you have a basketball scholarship to Stanford?" "Basketball AND academic," Cecelia reminded all of them. Jacob blushed, and was grateful when Ben said, “Oh wow it's already 5:00!" Benjamin exclaimed, "We had better head to church."

On their way to church, snow stared to fall, piling on top of the 3 inches Lakeville had received the previous day. Jacob picked up a fistful of snow and threw it at Cece. He then threw one at Lili and then Ben. Cece struck back first, and soon they were all in a snowball fight, continuing as they walked to church. By the time they were to church, they were covered in white splotches of snow. They quickly brushed each other off and headed to the gathering space. Their youth leader, Kelly, came and greeted them, "Hey guys! Did you all bring the supplies?" "Sure did," Cecelia said, holding up Lili's roll of wrapping paper and the bag they had put their other items in at Lili's house. "Great," Kelly said, "Just go put them over there on the floor with the other rolls of wrapping paper." Soon the four friends and many other teens from their youth group, as well as the floor, were covered in rolls of tape, scissors, markers, scrap pieces of paper, and ribbon. Cece and Lili were meticulously packing their boxes and wrapping them carefully, while Jake and Ben simply set the gifts in the box in no order, and then cut a piece of wrapping paper that looked as though it would fit. After they saw it didn't, they found a scrap piece of paper on the floor to tape over the hole. Cece stared at them and said, "What do you call THAT?" Jacob replied, "A masterpiece! It's, oh, what's a good word?" Lili suggested, "Um, abstract?" Jacob's face lit up, "That's perfect! It's an abstract masterpiece!" Ben, always the quietest of the four friends laughed at his friend, "Jacob, you are just so funny!" Jacob replied, "Hey, you just did the same thing!" looking at Ben's box. Ben looked down at his own box and said, "Well, maybe these kids will be more appreciative of our creativity than Lili and Cece!" A shout came from across the room, from both Cece and Lili, "We heard that!" Before long, all of the presents were wrapped for every member of every family. They stacked them according to family on the table in the corner of the room. Kelly said, "OK, all of you! We did great this year! Now, please turn off your cell phones and we will head over to church for a half hour of Adoration."

The four friends followed the other teens over to church, and soon they were kneeling side-by-side in front of the Monstrance. Music was playing in the background, and they all linked hands and started to pray the words. Before they knew what was happening, they felt wind swirl around them. They all opened their eyes, but quickly shut them. Sand was flying everywhere! "Where are we?" Liliana shouted. Jacob said, "I have no idea! Come on; let's huddle together until this storm stops!" Soon, the sand stopped flying and the wind settled down. Jacob, Cecelia, Liliana, and Benjamin all opened their eyes. They were in the middle of what looked like a desert. "What happened?" Ben said. "I don't know..." said Cecelia, "I was praying, and then we joined hands and started singing, and then all of a sudden, we were here." Jacob had left and gone to look for a sign of life somewhere, anywhere. He had to protect his girlfriend and his best friends and he had no idea what country they were in, or even what year it was! He went back to Cece, Lili, and Ben, and said "Nothing, I found nothing, no animals, and definitely no humans." "Hey!" Ben shouted, "Look over there!" Everyone directed their attention to where he was pointing. They saw what looked like three men. And they had camels! Liliana said, "Hey, you guys! Let's see where they are going!" They ran over to the men. The men looked them over and said something they couldn't understand. Well, everyone but Cecelia. She knew just about every language. "They want to know what in the world we are wearing!" she laughed. She responded, "We have no idea where we are or even what year it is!" They replied and Cecelia translated, "You are in the Middle East, and you are apparently a very long time in the past," Cece said, while the wise men were surveying their clothing again."Whoa...." Cece stood there shocked, as she realized something, that could only be verified by the next question, "And where are you headed?" she asked. "See that star? We are following it to the birth of our next great king!" "Just a minute," Cece said, turning to her friends. "OK, these guys say we are in the Middle East a very long time ago! Should we ask them for a ride? It's our only chance out of here!" "Ask them where exactly they are going, Cece," Jacob said. Cece asked and they replied "First we are stopping to see King Herod in Jerusalem and tell him our mission." Cece stared in disbelief. She said to her friends, "You all won't believe this, but if we go with these guys, we might get to see the baby Jesus!" "Are you sure?" the ever-skeptical Ben asked. "Yes!" she replied. "Then c'mon! Let's follow that star!" exclaimed Lili. Jacob and Ben helped the girls onto the camels. The three wise men headed off with the four friends from Lakeville, Nebraska. They couldn't wait to see where they were going!
Soon, they saw what looked like a city. One of the wise men said something to Cece and she told her friends, "You guys! This is Jerusalem! We're going to see King Herod." Jacob said, "Cece, you know what happens. Herod is going to want us to tell him where the Baby Jesus is so he can go kill him!" Cece replied, "Yeah, but remember? The wise men have a dream and go back to their country by a different way!" Ben chimed in, "She's right, Jake. Don't worry. We'll be fine." "I guess so," Jake said, "I just want to protect all of you. But I am getting hungry, and I know they ate dinner with King Herod, so mmmmmm..." Cece winked at him and said, "Oh, so now you're not going to protect us and stuff your face instead?" He laughed, "No! I need you know, strength so I can protect you!" Ben, Liliana, and Cece laughed. The wise man said something to Cece, and she again translated, "He says we will be at the castle soon!" Jacob and Ben pratically sang Hallelujiah Chorus as they both shouted, "FOOD!!!" Cece and Lili rolled their eyes and laughed at them, and Cece said, "We just ate cookies at Lili's house 3 hours ago! How can you be hungry?" Ben looked at her like she was crazy and said, "Because. We're guys! We need food to live!" Cece rolled her eyes and said, "So do girls. Just apparently, not as much!" "Hey!" Lili said, "Look! We are here!" Jake and Ben helped the girls off the camels and the three wise men led them in to the castle.

King Herod greeted the three wise men and then looked over Liliana, Cecelia, Jacob, and Benjamin. He whispered something to one of the men and the man whispered back Cece overheard and said, "King Herod asked what we were wearing!" "Seems as though that is the question of the day!" said Lili, as Cece continued, "The wise man said we weren't from this time, and then King Herod, as you can see, raised his eyebrows, then he said well, they are welcome too." Jacob gave a sigh of relief, "Well, that's a relief. As long as I get to eat!" They all sat down to a delicious dinner of vegetables and fruits, along with some meats that were unidentifiable, so the girls politely refused, while the guys were very intrigued. Ben said, "This stuff is so awesome!" Jake agreed, saying, "I have never tasted anything like it!" Cece turned to Liliana, saying, "Well, that's concerning..." They giggled. While this conversation was going on, King Herod was talking to the three wise men, "Please, once you find this great king, come back and tell me where he is, as I would like to pay him homage." The four friends knew they wouldn't be back this way, but the three wise men told King Herod, "As you wish, my king!" Soon, the three wise men and Lili, Jake, Cece, and Ben were off again on the camels, following the star. Not long after, they found themselves near the village of Bethlehem. They followed the beautiful star to the ever famous Nativity scene. There they stood and stared in awe. Lili, Jake, Cece and Ben knew what they were looking at. The three wise men just knew that this was the next great King, and they were coming to present him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. The four friends stood aside and watched the scene unfold just as it had in the Bible. Cece and Lili started to cry, and Jacob and Ben gave both of them hugs. After the three wise men had given their gifts, the three friends watched them leave for home....by a different route. Mary noticed them standing over there, and she told them, with Cece's translation, "Hi. You may all come in. This is my husband, Joseph," she said, gesturing to the man sitting next to her, "And this is my baby, Jesus," she told them, uncovering his face so that they could see him. Lili whispered to Cece, "She really is as young as everyone said she was. She can't be more than maybe 16." Cece whispered back, "It's amazing, isn't it?" The friends stood there in awe before sitting down on the floor of the stable with the Holy Family. Mary told Cece and Cece told her friends, "We can hold the baby if we would like." Ben went first, holding the baby carefully. There were 6 kids in his family, but he was the youngest, so he had never held a baby before. The baby started to fuss, so Ben handed the baby Jesus to Liliana. She cooed at the baby, but whispered to Cece, "Cece, I am afraid I am going to drop him. You know how ditzy I can be!" Cece told her, "Lili, you are doing great. You want me to hold him?" Cece took the baby,and she stood there rocking him. Jacob told her, "You look really adorable holding a baby in your arms. Almost as adorable as the baby." Cece looked at him and said, "Almost?" Jake said, "OK, just as adorable." The two of them looked at each other, wondering if one day they would be doing the same thing, holding their own baby. After Jacob took a turn holding baby Jesus, Mary took him back to lay him in the manger to sleep. He slept so peacefully that everyone was entranced on the beautiful and humble face of their Lord and Savior as a baby, that before they knew it, Jacob, Cecelia, Liliana, and Benjamin were back at Saints Bernadette and Therese Church, surrounded by 15 other teens in Adoration. As they left the church, Cece whispered to Lili, "Did that really happen? Was it all a dream?" Lili told her, "You dreamed it too?" Lili asked the boys, "Was it a dream? Were you there? You were in my dream." Their youth leader, Kelly, came up to them, saying, "Hey you guys! Pizza in the gathering space! Oh and Cece? You have a piece of straw in your hair." Her friends looked at each other and laughed. They had truly experienced something amazing. Jacob said, "This is one Christmas we will never forget."


Epilouge

The four friends never did forget that amazing Christmas. The next fall, Cece and Jake headed their separate ways, one to Ohio, the other to California. They didn't see each other again until spring break of their senior year, at Mass at their home parish of Saints Bernadette and Therese. Cece went up to the familiar looking and handsome young man after Mass, saying, "Jacob Richie?" He turned around, saying, "Cece! You look absolutely amazing!" Cece giggled and blushed. How did he always know exactly what to say to her? He ran his fingers through his hair and asked her, "You have any plans for tonight? I was going to help with the Jr. High kids youth group, and wondered..." Before he could even finish, Cece said, "Of course I'll come! So it's a date?" He replied, "You know, I haven't even been on a date since senior prom with you." She looked at him, looked in his eyes, and said, "You know I'll always love you, Jacob Richie." She gave him a kiss on the cheek. He proposed that summer, and they were married two summers later, by Fr. Benjamin Cullins. It meant so much to them to be married by one of their best friends. Jacob opened a law firm in Lakeville, and Cecelia was accepted as a teacher at Saints Bernadette and Therese elementary school. They had the large family they had always dreamed of, eight kids. They had five boys and three girls, including one set of twin girls. Liliana Jenkins went off to Lakeville Junior College to earn her degree in cosmetology. One day at the coffee shop, she met a boy named Edward. He, she discovered, was a lawyer at the same firm Jacob had opened in Lakeville. They were married the summer after Jacob and Cece, also by Fr. Benjamin Cullins. They had four kids, and stayed in Lakeville, Nebraska, one block from their church, and two houses down from Jacob and Cece. All four of the friends told their amazing Christmas story every year. Fr. Benjamin told this story to all of the Sunday school kids, Jacob and Cece told the story to their kids, and Lili told the story to her husband and children. They knew that no one would truly know what an amazing journey they had been on, but the story touched everyone's hearts. And just as Jacob had said, "This is one Christmas we will never forget." And they never did.

Complaining

I am trying so hard to quit complaining as much! My friend Carliann sent me a forward the other day and I read it and was like WOW, why am I complaining if I have all that I do? I wish I could copy it over to here but it has pictures so it wont copy and paste, and without pictures it does not make sense. But yeah. I got a 94% on that Vietnam paper! I am so excited!!!

time crunch

Yes, it is that time of year. College finals. Ugh. I have turned in my Vietnam War paper(hoping I did well on that, not so sure!), my assignment essay synopsis, and my extra credit paper. The only thing left for PSEOP online history is the dreaded final. If I dont get an A on this one, I get a B in the course probably, from my probably not good calculations;-)
I find myself with no time to watch TV anymore, the only thing I get to watch is my soap opera each weekday, but only if I DVR it so I can fast-forward thru commercials. I aslo eat and study while getting some sort of TV time in, like when my sister wants me to watch a movie with her. I eat my meals while watching videos on the computer for history, and instead of reading before bed I study. I have only read 4 books this quarter of school.
My only friend-time is Lifeteen each Sunday. I rarely get to talk on the phone with my friends anymore, because they are busy and so am I. I havent talked to Bella, my BFF, on the phone since Sunday night after Lifeteen for 7 minutes. I havent talked to Rachel, my other BFF, for a week and havent seen her in a while either, as she is not Catholic and does not attend my youth group.
The only thing I getto do regularly that I want to is email, simply becuase I am almost always on here typing up a paper and when the email notifier pops up, I can go look(the email is always minimized at the bottom of my screen!)and reply.
If only God gave us 25 hours in the day!!!

Prayers of Thanksgiving

1. My friend Scott was driving yesterday on icy roads in Michigan, taking a friend to work. He was hit and spun around by four cars, and after that happened, a SUV came over the hill going way too fast and came very close to plowing into the drivers side of the car. Neither him or the girl in the car with him were hurt! Scott is really awesome, I do miss him I have not seen him in almost a year now, though he may come in a few weeks, but he may not because he would like to drive himself and his car was totalled. He is 20 and like an older brother to me. He gave me my first....and only motorcycle ride! Yes, we went fast, yes, it was fun, and yes I was holding on to him for dear life!!!

2. My dog, Wilbur ran away yesterday morning, but luckily our very nice neighbor came outside in her pajamas and got him into her yard, where we were able to get him and bring him home safely!!!

sweet!

yesterday at church for Immaculate Conception, I saw one of Mother Teresa's Missionaries ofCahrity!!! so cool! And Fr Phils homily was about St Bernadette, one of my Confirmation saints and also a patron of my blog. We have a St Bernadette grotto inthe back of our church where we can light candles and offer prayers. I like to do that!


Oh and Rosary Girl has more followers than I, so if you read this blog but do not officially follow please do so quickly!!!(we kind of have this contest thing;-))

the skit went really well! we did use scripts because not everyone knew their parts, but that was OK. it was funny too! except i only saw one guy, jake, laughing;-) hahaha. he laughs at most things though. then in small groups we talked about the epistles and the acts of the apostels, and how the different letters by paul can help us.

body of christ

so like you know at Mass when the priest or Eucharistic distributor says "body of Christ" or "Blood of Christ" and then you say amen? has it become robotic for you like it has for me? when we say amen(i believe) we are saying we believe that is the body and soul of our lord jesus. so maybe this advent we can try to not act like robots during church(sit stand sit stand sit stand kneel stand kneel sit......etc etc)and especially during communion.

the whole 9 yards, anything and everything

as i am typing this, my brothers guinea pig, puffy, is on my lap squealing. today we saw the christmas light show at skate world, with the lights coreographed to music on a local station, mostly trans siberian orchestra. my vietnam paper is now on the fifth page, and since i only need 4-5 pages, i am done excpet for finish-ups and a good closing sentence. i am geting nervous we wont have enough people for the lifeteen skit. but the youth leader is calling more people today and he may do a part as well. so we will have enough people i suppose. once again, happy st nicks day!!!

the guardian! i had seen it before but watched the like last hour of it again last night, i was SOBBING! notnear as bad as my mom the time she watched it, but still! it is SO SAD! you must watch this movie! also

I know it’s Christmas, but chill, OK? Last year you got up at 2 a.m. to shop, ate that 3-foot candy cane, dressed like an elf for a week. And remember the eggnog cannon? Seriously, chill. —Your Brain

Are you listening to your brain? Christmas makes us crazy. People wear antlers and eat globs of mysterious cheese. They climb houses to hang lights. Even giving or receiving gifts makes people do strange things.


Buying Gifts
Christmas shopping changes people. Penny pinchers become walking wallets, spending money faster than your Uncle Earl can eat a Christmas ham. (If I forfeit my first two years of college, I can buy this theme-park rollercoaster!) And mild-mannered people panic in mall crowds. Stunned, they buy the first thing they see. (These inflatable hats look nice. I’ll buy 37—everybody gets one.)

Others spend months trying to find the perfect gift, driven by the goal of making every recipient cry.

Then there’s my brother. On Christmas Eve, he races through stores during the “we are closing” announcement. With no time to make buying decisions and a cart moving at 80 mph, results can be sketchy.

Me: Wow. Grandma got hunting gear.

Mom: I got this musical called Guinea Pig Rock!

Sally: I got a steering wheel for a van.

Buying gifts can also turn people into what I call “transformers.” If you ask for something, that item is transformed into something completely different.

Ask for iPod. Get lamp that dispenses peanuts.

Ask for winter coat. Get flashing Viking sword.

Ask for perfume. Get tub of rare fish.

My wife, Sally, has transformers in her family. One year she asked for a turtleneck and got a decorative urn. Her 24-year-old brother got a “Blue’s Clues” pillow.


Giving Gifts
Even giving gifts leads to bizarre behavior—especially in relationships.

A. Overexcitement: Girl gives gift . . . stares . . . studies reaction. Her eyes bulge; her mouth opens; she can’t wait!

B. Gift Inferiority Complex: Where every package comes with a rambling apology.

Mike (giving gift to girlfriend): It’s not much. I mean, I hope you like it. I, uh, wanted to get you more, but I . . . You can return it. See, I tried to sell my car . . . they sold out and then I was sick . . . (45 minutes later) . . . the donkey at the living nativity scene ate my pants.


Opening Gifts
If you really want to see Christmas craziness, watch families open gifts. In some homes, living rooms become mosh pits, and everything is torn apart in 12 seconds. My family takes forever. By the time we’re done, we can hear Fourth of July fireworks. One year I grew a beard—and I was only 6.

Gift opening can also cause individuals to act strange. They become:

The Guesser: I bet it’s a new phone! Or unicorn shoes! Oh, wait! It’s . . . ”

The Shaker: A Guesser who can’t hold anything still.

The Shredder: Peels wrapping paper off in hundreds of small, annoying strips. Why? Nobody knows.

The Saver: Opens gifts with surgical precision. Bows are saved. Paper is folded and treated like an endangered species. If your mom is a saver, you may have ribbons that cavemen used.


Christmas may make us crazy, but I don’t listen to my brain. Really, there’s nothing crazy about giving to others, celebrating family and commemorating the birth of the King of kings. That said, I’d still ditch the elf costume this year.

ugh. i have a vietnam paper, 4 pages due on monday. how many pages do i have done? 2 and not quite a half. ok i suppose i am doing good. but it has to be perfect because if i dont get an A in this course it will drop my GPA like the last semester of my frosh year and i will cry. i cant get a B! i have been trying really hard. i am even doing the 8 point extra credit paper.

i need surgery on my wrist to fix a tear in my ligament. IDK when it will be, i have to see a specialist.

yay!!!

i got contacts!!!! woot! and since i will be wearing them alot i also got a cute reading glasses pair OMG they are adorable! dark pink kinda mettallic with silver rhinestones!!! i cant wait til lifeteen sunday to show all my friends me without glasses! half of them didnt even know me BG(before glasses!) cuz that was 3rd grade i got glasses!!! yayayay!

ugh college papers

i have about a page and a half on cinderella man right now it is xtra credit and doesnt need to be too long but my mom says more is always better, not necessarily i wouldnt want to be the prof grading 50 10 page assignments!!! wait til she learns that the Vietnam overview paper is not to be more than 3 pages.....i told her 3 pages and shes like oh i think at least 5! wait til she finds out it cant be more than 3!!!!! she will flip! haha! happy advent to all!!!xoxo
